Cruising Tip #23 by Tor Pinney                                                                                                                          Back to Cruising Tips

GENERATOR PAINT SHAKER

Like a lot of cruisers these days, I carry a portable gasoline generator aboard. Compact, efficient and relatively quiet, it powers Silverheels' 60-amp battery charger when wind and solar aren't enough to re-charge the batteries. It'll also run my biggest power tools.

Rubber footpads cushion the vibration, but of course the machine itself vibrates some when running. Recently, I found a way to put that to use. By lashing a new, unopened can of paint on top, my portable generator becomes a handy paint shaker!
